The Mendrisiotto area gave birth to great architects, whose works are appreciated all over the world.

First a plasterer and stonemason, then an engineer and architect, Carlo Maderno left his home town of Capolago in 1576 to move to Rome and carry out some of the most important architectural works in the Vatican.

and visit his Academy in Mendrisio. Museums, churches and palaces:
