The land of seven lakes between Italy and Switzerland where the perfect weekend is not a dream.

The project aims to offer a system of services for the use of bicycles and the usability of routes in the area through the integration of public transport and the usual - private - means of transport.

The aim is to communicate the project to over 10,000 users, in order to increase overnight stays, develop the use of the proposed services, confirm the image of the territory as an innovative destination for cycling and health.

The project was presented by the Varese Convention&Visitors Bureau (lead organization) with the partners Associazione commercianti Confesercenti Varese, Associazione dei comuni dell'Agenda 21 dei Laghi, CCIAA di Varese, Federalberghi Varese, Ferrovie Le Nord Milano spa, Uniascom Varese, Unione delle Associazioni dei Commercianti della provincia di Varese - Confcommercio, Comune di Luino, Ecoway HT, SS&C Comunicazione e Marketing, Consulenti Italia for the Italian part. Mendrisiotto Turismo (lead organization), Ente Turistico del Malcantone for the Swiss part.

A territory to discover

The Varesotto and the Mendrisiotto territories are located in a lovely green area, dotted with blue stretches of water: with its seven main lakes, our land looks like a coloured and shimmering mosaic to be discovered. From its magnificent mountains to its poetic lakes, this is a territory of nature, landscapes, culture, history and sport.

Road to Wellness has everything to amaze you

Let yourself be charmed by the serenity of our famous lakes: Lago Maggiore and Lago di Lugano are waiting for you, with many entertainment options. Come and visit our small islands, filled with gardens and stately palaces; be tempted by a romantic boat in the magic background of hills and vineyards; enjoy memorable moments on the shores of our lakes!

Discover a corner of paradise, a natural landscape, which is also a guardian of art, culture and history. You will find valuable frescos, Romanesque churches, rural paths, cloisters, sanctuaries and archaeological or modern art museums.

The richness of our land is reflected in its wine and food tradition: cheese, cold cuts, wine and honey are some of our region’s specialities. Today, these products are still prepared with traditional and ancient methods.
