Sophia Loren: il mito della bellezza disegnato con la luce

The exhibition "Sophia Loren: The Myth of Beauty Drawn with Light" is part of the Max Museo's ongoing photography program. Through "drawing with light," the exhibition at Max Museo retraces the most iconic images that capture Sophia Loren at key moments in her life, during the filming of her famous films or in more personal settings, immortalized by some of the greatest photographers of the era. The exhibition fits perfectly with the Chiasso Cultural Center's guiding theme for 2025-2026: pulchritudo, understood in the broadest sense of the term, as an expression of harmony between body and spirit.

The MAX museum will display vintage photographs and reprints, arranged thematically and chronologically, always sharing the theme of pulchritudo. A total of approximately three hundred images span sixty years of Sophia Loren's life, conveying to visitors the profound emotions the great diva evoked, thanks to her mettle and determination, both in her films (over a hundred) and in her life.

Born in Rome and raised in Pozzuoli (Naples), Sophia Loren chose to live in Geneva, Switzerland. The exhibition aims to highlight this dual identity, creating a cultural bridge between Switzerland and Italy. The exhibition is supported by the Italian Embassy in Bern and the Italian Consulate General in Lugano.

The exhibition is accompanied by a richly illustrated catalog in Italian and English, featuring all the images of the works on display and critical essays by internationally renowned scholars, as well as a biography of the actress.

A rich calendar of events (conferences, guided tours, educational workshops, film screenings, debates) enriches the exhibition.
