Around eighty paintings are presented, from public and private collections, including prestigious museums. The aim is to highlight the scholarship devoted to the artist and offer the public the opportunity to admire the finest examples of his painting in one place, including previously unpublished works and canvases that have not been exhibited for many years.

This exhibition and its accompanying publication present two of the four evangelists, recently attributed to him and housed in Segovia and Valladolid, for the first time. Numerous biographical discoveries have also emerged from archival research conducted for the exhibition, which has allowed us to update the painter's biographical information and finally establish the year of his death, which occurred at the age of eighty, in 1757.

In addition to numerous works held in public and private collections in Ticino, the exhibition includes paintings from the Louvre, the Kunstmuseum Basel, the Kunsthaus Zurich, the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti at the Ca' d'Oro in Venice, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, and numerous ecclesiastical buildings in Lombardy and Piedmont.
