ChiassoLetteraria reaches its twenty-first edition, confirming its position as a successful event in the cantonal and Swiss cultural landscape. The international literature festival, organized by the association of the same name with the support of the Municipality of Chiasso, the Canton of Ticino, Pro Helvetia, and several other sponsors, takes place at the Spazio Officina, the Cinema Teatro, and various venues in the border city, including pubs, galleries, and gardens.

For a few days, Chiasso and the various festival venues become like pages of a book to be leafed through.

The twenty-first edition—from May 12 to 16, 2027—will emphasize, as usual, themes that connect literature with the major issues of the present. In a constantly evolving world traversed by disruptive geopolitical, socioeconomic, and climate dynamics, the festival questions the space available to communities and individuals to decide their own lives: is it still possible for individuals—both individual and collective—to take control of their own future? What role can literature still claim in a changing world? How can literature help us build a better world and be better people? Are there still books that can change our lives?

The program for the 2027 edition promises to be packed with meetings with leading Swiss and international authors, poets, artists, musicians, and essayists. The meetings are held in the original language, with consecutive translation into Italian. Numerous collateral events will be offered: readings, concerts, exhibitions, screenings, performances, DJ sets, and more.
