Roccolo di Scudellate
The bird snare is a brickwork structure in the form of a three-storey tower. All around this small building, a row of trees supported the large nets used by the hunters to catch small birds. When visiting the Ethnographic Museum of the Muggio Valley, which supports the restoration and promotion of bird snares in the area, you can learn more about the history and use of bird snares in the valley.
There are still six bird snares here today, all situated in strategic positions along the migratory routes travelled by the birds. If you go to Scudellate, at the bottom of the valley, you can visit the bird snare near the centre of the village, which is easily accessible on foot.
