Tasting of summer rarities with Meret Bissegger

If you have a vegetable garden, you know that summer is a great time to grow plants and vegetables! What if there were also some rarities among them? For example, a "string bean" or "red ribs"? In the vegetable garden of the ProSpecieRara centre in San Pietro di Stabio, rare vegetable varieties are grown every year, some of which are also reproduced from seed.

To discover rare diversity, ProSpecieRara invites you to a visit to its centre in San Pietro followed by a tasting of summer rarities organised by Meret Bissegger. A natural cuisine cook with great culinary creativity, Meret Bissegger knows how to make the most of what was disappearing from the gardens and fields.

During the visit, it will be explained why some old varieties no longer fit into the rational parameters of modern agricultural production or how the seed-saving network works, which reproduces seed every year to ensure the preservation of over 1,300 varieties of vegetables.

The event, which costs 15.- chf per person and is supported by the Municipality of Stabio, will take place at the ProSpecieRara centre in San Pietro di Stabio. Registration is compulsory by 5 August on 091 630 98 57 or masseria@prospecierara.ch (places are limited).
