Art and Botany. Josef Hanel (1865-1940) / Gabriela Maria Müller
Nature, art and science intertwine in an unusual setting, full of stimuli for reflection.
The new series of slides on hand-coloured glass with a botanical subject by the photographer Josef Hanel is accompanied by recent works by Gabriela Maria Müller, made with pollen, seeds, earth and wax. Both the photographic plates made for scientific and didactic purposes and the refined textures of the contemporary artist celebrate the transient beauty and mystery of regeneration of the plant world.
The works are fascinating for their executive virtuosity, compositional harmony and the use of complex and almost impenetrable creative processes.
The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Vincenzo Vela Museum and the Botanical Museum of the University of Zurich.
