Bissone Arte 22
Our society, throughout its history, had perhaps never before gone through such a critical period, which also involved art and culture in an unprecedented challenge. This has prompted artists to react, tackling themes related not only to epidemic factors, but to nature itself, to the climatic and social emergency.
Art has always been able to take on a substantial function in countering the usual mechani-sms of our times that are all too often aimed at profit, to the detriment of human values such as dignity and pride.
In this context, public institutions and private companies come into play with their responsibility to draw connections with the artistic project, making cultural production concrete and accessible.
Bissone becomes part of the ongoing debate and becomes a workshop, mindful of a past that is still visible, offering a contribution that enriches the canton's cultural scene.
Bissone, a small village nestling between mountain and lake, gave history architects, craftsmen, stonemasons, painters and sculptors, who left indelible traces for mankind. Bissone resumes this long journey with an exhibition of contemporary art.
Some thirty artists active in the canton, nationally and internationally, of different generations and multifarious expressive languages, ranging from three-dimensional works to installations, video, photography, painting, ceramics and performance actions, have been invited to participate.
The majority are senior artists, but young artists active in various contemporary expressive disciplines have also been included, both as a stimulus and for a fruitful comparison and contact with well-established presences.
